As both a green oasis in downtown Lexington and an active space that will serve all kinds of users, Town Branch Park will be the anchor to Town Branch Commons. The park will occupy the space between the expanded Lexington Convention Center and Oliver Lewis Way.
Town Branch Commons
A transformative public-private linear park system that traces the historic Town Branch Creek through downtown Lexington, Kentucky. Town Branch Commons is composed of Town Branch Park and Town Branch Trail. The trail is a 3.2-mile trail system through the heart of downtown Lexington connecting 22 miles of protected bike and pedestrian paths. Legacy Trail and Town Branch Trail join at Town Branch Park, knitting the urban core to our beloved countryside. The Town Branch Trail is fully funded through $40 million in federal, state, and city grants. The city is leading the trail portion of the project and construction is scheduled to begin soon.
Town Branch Park
As the private arm in the public-private partnership, Town Branch Park is committed to realizing the full vision of Town Branch Commons by making the park a reality. To support this effort, Blue Grass Community Foundation and a number of civic leaders and philanthropists joined together to create Town Branch Fund. Incubated at the Blue Grass Community Foundation, Town Branch Fund evolved into Town Branch Park, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The board and staff of Town Branch Park are working to transform acres of parking in the Manchester Parking Lot behind Rupp Arena into an inclusive, dynamic, fun, and uncommonly beautiful green space, reflecting the culture and spirit of Lexington.
